product details

Mining cables serve as core power and signal transmission media for mineral extraction and conveying machinery. Operating in some of the world’s harshest industrial environments, these cables demand extreme toughness and rigorous safety performance. Unlike standard industrial wiring, mining cable engineering focuses primarily on mechanical robustness, flame safety, and long-term operational reliability under extreme working loads.

1. Core Working Environment & Operational Challenges

Mining-grade cables endure continuous extreme mechanical and environmental pressure throughout their service cycle:
Severe mechanical impact: Cables are frequently rolled over by mining vehicles, squeezed by falling rock debris, dragged across rough mine surfaces, and subjected to persistent friction and extrusion damage.
Strict explosion and flame safety risks: Underground mining sites contain flammable dust and gaseous mixtures. Mining cables must prevent spark ignition and flame spreading to eliminate potential explosion hazards in confined mine spaces.
Complex chemical and humid conditions: Long-term exposure to mine water, oil contamination, hydraulic liquids, industrial solvents, and acidic or alkaline ground environments requires strong chemical resistance.
Continuous dynamic fatigue: Mobile mining machinery subjects cables to frequent dragging, bending, twisting and irregular external forces, requiring excellent flexible fatigue resistance.

2. Professional Structure & Material Design

Conductor Structure: Adopts high-purity finely stranded tinned copper. The multi-strand flexible design disperses bending stress effectively, while tin-plating provides reliable anti-corrosion protection against humid and corrosive mine atmospheres.
High-performance Insulation: Heavy-duty cross-linked thermoset insulating materials replace ordinary PVC. XLPE delivers superior electrical stability and waterproof performance, while EPR rubber maintains excellent low-temperature flexibility, heat resistance and tear resistance under repeated dynamic movement.
Reinforced Outer Sheath: The outer protective layer determines overall service life. Industry-standard CPE and Neoprene (PCP) sheath materials offer outstanding comprehensive protection, including strong abrasion and tear resistance, reliable flame retardancy, and excellent tolerance to oil, chemicals and harsh weather conditions.
Safety Grounding Design: Most mining cables integrate dedicated heavy-duty grounding cores to ensure stable grounding protection and improve overall operational safety.
High Voltage & Temperature Rating: Standard voltage grades cover 600V to 2kV and above, supporting long-term stable operation under 90°C wet or 105°C dry working conditions.

3. Main Mining Cable Classification

SHD-GC Heavy-Duty Mining Cable: The most widely used heavy-grade mining cable. Equipped with EPR/XLPE insulation and CPE/Neoprene sheath, plus ground check conductors for real-time grounding circuit monitoring.
G-GC General-Duty Mining Cable: Lightweight alternative to SHD-GC, designed for medium and mild mining operational scenarios.
Main Power Feeder Cables: Specially built for high-power mining equipment such as longwall mining systems to sustain stable large-current power supply.
Mobile Drag Cables: Optimized for continuous bending and dragging, matching shuttle cars and other frequently moving underground machinery.
Portable Mining Cords: Including Type W and Type G portable cables, widely used for temporary power distribution and mining tool power supply.

4. Industry Application Scenarios

Underground Mining: Continuous miners, longwall mining equipment, shuttle cars, roof bolters, underground ventilation fans and drainage pump systems.
Open-pit Surface Mining: Electric shovels, draglines, drilling rigs, belt conveyors and mining haulage trucks.
Mineral Processing Plants: Crushing equipment, grinding mills and other mineral sorting and processing machinery.
