Transmission Distance of RF Cables

Regarding the transmission distance of RF cables:

The transmission distance of coaxial cables is influenced by various factors, such as the ratio of the inner conductor to the insulation layer, transmission power, transmission rate, as well as receiver performance and bit error rate. Of course, another significant factor here is the type of cable. Different types of cables have different transmission distances.

Let’s take China’s SYV-75 (the SYV series in China is equivalent to the RG series) as an example: the transmission distance of SYV-75-2 or SYV-75-3 is generally around 150 meters.

The transmission distance of SYV-75-4 is generally around 250 meters.
The transmission distance of SYV-75-5 is generally around 350 to 400 meters.
The transmission distance of SYV-75-7 is generally around 700 to 800 meters.

However, the situation described above is for distances when the cable quality meets standards and no devices are added in between. In practical situations, its transmission distance is even shorter than this.

From this, it can be seen that for radio frequency coaxial cables, within the same category of RF cables, the longer the transmission distance, the greater the attenuation, leading to a decrease in signal transmission quality; under the same transmission distance, the higher the transmission frequency band, the greater the attenuation, resulting in a decrease in transmission quality.
