IEC 60754-1\/BS6425-1 (Determination of Halogen Gas Content) is a specification for the release concentration of hydrogen chloride (HCl) in IEC and BS standards. Halogens such as fluorine (Fluorine), chlorine (Chlorine), bromine (Bromine), iodine (Iodine), and the radioactive volatile element astatine (Astatine) have high toxicity. According to the experimental procedure, when the combustion furnace is preheated to 800\u00b0C, a 1.0g sample is pushed into the furnace, and the HCl is dissolved into water using the gas emission rate. Then, the halogen acid content of the aqueous solution is measured. If the release amount of halogen acid during the combustion of cable materials is less than 5mg\/g, it can be called a halogen-free cable (L.SOH). If the release amount of halogen acid (HCl) is greater than 5mg\/g but less than 15mg\/g, it can be called a low-halogen cable (L.SF). It is worth noting that the IEC60754-1 method cannot be used to determine the content of HCl less than 5mg\/g, that is, it cannot determine whether it is “halogen-free”.
