Copper conductors mainly cover several types: stranded wire, solid wire, tinned copper wire, aluminum wire, magnet wire, pre-twisted then plated wire and metallic yarn.

Stranded wire: It is the most widely adopted option and used for the majority of cables, largely due to the reasons listed below:

1.Easy extrusion processing, making the wire soft;

2.Increase the heat dissipation area;

3. Increase tensile strength and flexural strength;

4. Reduce loss; (In large-cross-section power cables, the use of split conductors is not necessary, as the skin effect and proximity effect can increase cable current resistance and decrease current-carrying capacity)

Meaning of common copper wire codes:

a) Bare copper wire BA.AS or CU;

b) Tin-plated wire TAS, TCU, or TS;

c) Stranded and then plated wire TC-T;

d) Copper foil wire (TSL);

e) Copper-clad steel CCS, tinned copper-clad steel CP;

f) Copper-clad aluminum (CCA), copper-clad aluminum-magnesium (CCAM), etc;

g) Silver-plated copper wire SC

h) Silver-plated copper-clad steel SCCS.
